For some of us, being the first to have the hottest, newest phone is everything. We’ve all seen the queues outside your local store on the day of the latest iPhone release, maybe we’ve even been in one of those queues ourselves - no judgement here. Even if you’re not that keen, if it’s time for a phone upgrade, it’s good to know what’s new on the market and if there are any new phone releases due soon. After all, you’re often entering into a two-year contract, so you want to be sure you’re getting the right phone for you.

Whether you’re after the latest phone from Apple or one of the newest Android phones, we’ve got you covered. You can sign up for a pay-monthly contract phone and get one of the latest phones without having to pay the full amount up front - instead you pay it off in monthly instalments together with an allowance of minutes, texts, and data. Alternatively, you can buy the latest mobile phone outright as a SIM-free phone. By paying for the phone in full, you won’t be tied to a network or plan, leaving you free to find the best SIM-only or Pay As You Go deal.

If you’re not that bothered about having the shiniest piece of tech, check out our full range of all mobile phones. We have something for every budget, including great deals on last year’s new phone releases - a great way to get a high-spec phone without paying top dollar.

Latest iPhone and Samsung phone

The launch of the latest iPhone model is always big news in the tech world and fortunately, Apple is pretty consistent with its release dates, so we’re not kept on tenterhooks for long. So, when does Apple release new phones? Usually, the latest iPhone series is launched every September.

Currently, Apple’s latest iPhone is the 15 Series - iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max - released in September 2023. New features include the A16 Bionic chip with 5-core GPU and Dynamic Island, a magical way to interact with iPhone, and for the Pro models, an upgraded primary camera with next-generation portraits with Focus and Depth Control. We can expect the newest Apple phone - the iPhone 16, maybe? - in September 2024.

Probably the most exciting new phone release of 2023 so far, was the latest Samsung phone - the flagship Galaxy S23 Ultra - in February. With its incredible 200MP main camera, ultra-wide lens, and two telephoto lenses - for 3x and 10x optical zoom - it’s often cited as the best camera phone on the market. But it’s not just about the flagship models, also released this year were the newest mid-range Samsung phones - the Galaxy A14, Galaxy A34, Galaxy A54 and the Gaaxy A05s - and the brand new Z series of design-led foldable smartphones: the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5.

So what’s the next big Samsung phone release? Most likely, the new Samsung S24 at the beginning of 2024.

Latest phones from Google Pixel, Motorola and more

If you’re looking for one of the latest Android phones, there are so many options to consider from well-known brands such as Google and Motorola, to brands you might not have heard of, like Xiaomi, OPPO, and Honor.

Google phones may not rival the giants of Apple and Samsung in terms of sales, but its phones are consistently well reviewed and are growing in popularity - probably, in part, due to their smaller price tags. The brand new Google Pixel 8a features the new Google Tensor G3 chip and includes many of the same essential AI capabilities found in the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, such as Gemini, Best Take, Audio Magic Eraser, and others. This device is engineered to take stunning photos, streamline your tasks and protect your data securely.

The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro regularly appear in ‘best of’ lists, especially when it comes to photography.
