Accessories

Sony Xperia XZ2 is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 392.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Crippled by Sony's odd decisions. I've had my XZ2 since last May. It has held up well in performance and it has acceptable battery life, nothing ground breaking but it's good. The camera is decent but is heavily crippled by Sony's firmware and software. You cannot shoot in RAW. This is a big deal if you are serious about getting the most out of you camera. RAW image capture has been a feature of phones for years now and even budget devices support it, yet Sony don't. This means you cannot do much to correct Sony's sometimes heavy handed processing, which produces harsh sharpening halos and compression artifacts. Video. Sony's HDR 4k is interesting but not very useful when sharing on social media etc. Once again Sony have inexplicably crippled this device with sub-par firmware and software. The phone does not shoot 1080p 120fps, 240fps or 4k 60fps. These frame rates are incredibly useful when shooting cinematic slow motion video and are available on most rival phones. The phones SOC and image sensor both support these specs. Sony may either be limited by poor software development or by slow system memory. Either way you loose out to rival devices for no good reason. The screen is fine, but frankly is nothing special. It doesn't get crazy bright and has mediocre black levels and calibration. I will give credit to Sony's update frequency, as I have received regular security updates, though how long this phone is supported is unknown as in less than a year from launch it is now two generations old in Sony device portfolio! Sony's mobile division is facing extreme cut backs due to poor market performance. Sony could be an interesting alternative to Samsung and Apple. They have tried to market themselves as a option for media creation, however, without any substance to back this up. Huawei are providing a far more advanced camera system. Apple and Samsung a far better video system. I want to see Sony improve, as loosing another brand further limits the choice of consumers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One word awesome I don't know what other people say to this phone. For me this is the first time using an Xperia phone, and I must say I am impressed. It might not have a notch, old fashioned block design, but one thing the phone nails it, it's highly optmized software experience. Excellent ram management and even with just 3100mah battery it lasts me whole day. I love the phone. Pros: Optimized software Excellent RAM management 2 years guaranteed software update Cons Keyword Display only 1080 Heavy No headphone jack

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE it! Changed from a Galaxy s7 Edge. It's a little heavier than I thought but the display is great and genuinely feels like a better phone than the Samsung!
