Design and display

Compact design

Extra slim and with a more pocket-friendly size, the Xperia XZ1 Compact is stylishly simple and fits perfectly in your hand. The smartphone is available in a range of colours, including silver, exclusively available from Carphone Warehouse.

Rich display

Whether you’re flipping through photos, browsing the web or watching videos, the stunning 4.6-inch HD display will make everything look crisp and clear. It uses the same technology Sony puts into its BRAVIA TVs, so you know you’re in good hands.

Smart camera

The XZ1 Compact’s 19MP camera captures highly-detailed shots, and there’s a range of great features to make them look even better. The unique Autofocus burst mode, for example, follows your subject as they move, making sure you always get the perfect shot, no matter what.

If that’s not enough, you can also capture incredible slow-mo video at 960 frames per second (fps), letting you see everyday things in a brand new light.

Fit more into your selfies

The 8MP wide-angle selfie camera captures high-resolution photos at either 80 or 120-degrees, so you can leave the selfie stick at home and still get the whole gang in the frame.

Under the hood

Top-level performance

The top-line octa-core processor and 4GB RAM means the XZ1 Compact was certainly built with multitasking in mind. You’ll be able to run several apps at the same time without any lag, and you’ll not have any trouble with storage space for them all, with 32GB as standard.

Lasting battery

Despite the powerful processor and vivid display, the Xperia XZ1 Compact has amazing battery life, with a 2,700mAh cell. That means you can have a busy day of phone calls, texts and web browsing, and still have enough power for reading, listening to music or game playing on your way home.

Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from had to take it back,so many problems This could be a great phone but Sony seems to have messed it up. It reboot s and crashes twice a day, alarms and ring tones just stop working and if you look at the photos they are terrible. Have a look at the support forum on the Sony website and see all the issues. On the plus side the battery lasts ages. I swapped for a pixel 2 and it's been great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great phone but.. I had to return my first handset last week to CPW as I was having rebooting issues with the software. A week later and there have been a couple of incidences but hoping it settles down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Packs a punch! I came in for a Samsung galaxy A3 as it was a decent phone for a smallish size. The advisor showed me the XZ1 Compact and told me everything about it, i just had to get it! Yes its not the prettiest of phones but all the features and benefits outweighed the design for me. The camera is wicked! i am in love withe the quick launch button on the side, genious! The selfie camera has got some wide angle mode which means i get everyone in at arms reach, a handy plus! Battery life is just wow, i used to charge my old phone on a daily basis, this is lasting me over a day and thats using it more than the old device! Liking the Android 8 Oreo too, it has a good few features and shortcuts that make my life easier. I will be recommending this to friends and family! I know Sony is a decent brand but i never thought to get a Sony phone until i came into your store! Thanks :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great phone but currently not great software I had two of these handsets from CPW and both suffered from rebooting issues both on the initial firmware and the first update Sony released. It is a lovely phone but having had it reboot on trying to unlock, listen to music, connect to bluetooth or even just sitting in my pocket was a big no no and I returned both with the same issues (and my wife had the same problem with two separate handsets also). If Sony can fix whatever they broke in Oreo that'd be great and its then an amazing phone for the price, I'm hoping the full XZ1 doesn't have the same issues as I'll be trying that out instead. Also ALL the current Sony Range (XZ Premium, XZ1, XZ1 Compact) feature image distortion on the camera (straight lines and in some case people get bent oddly, but not in videos) in certain situations. It is a documented issue on Sony's forums and XDA so hopefully it can be corrected in a software update. I've had this distortion a few times and it is noticeable, the Sony reps know of this issue though so hopefully it gets passed up the chain. If all these issues get fixed then my rating would improve to a 4 possibly even a 5.
