Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good phone Have come back to Sony after being tempted away to Samsung. Fed up with the Samsung bloatware it is good to come back to a nice relatively clean Sony. Nice pretty stock Android 10. Shame Sony have stopped their email app. It was very good. BlueMail is a great alternate. Screen is lovely and clear. Really great for films. Lovely colour and contrast. I stream from a Plex media server and it's spot on. Screen a little dark in bright daylight but still ok. Camera is fine for video and photos. Video files are very large but the phone takes a memory card, so it's not an issue. Bluetooth connect to Bluetooth speaker, wireless Sony headphones and car absolutely fine. Music output is excellent either to headphones or speakers. The Sony headphone app is not great. I have a Plex media server and the music app works really well with the Sony Xperia 5. Phone has not frozen or crashed in the 4 months I have had it. None of the apps I use have had any issues. Never dropped a call. The only niggle. The fingerprint scanner is not the best. Requires a clean scanner and bone dry finger. Sony updates have improved it massively since I got the phone in Jan 2020 but still not as good as it should be. Can log multiple fingerprints which is really good. Advise any user to re-log fingerprints when firmware updates. (My work iPhone never has issues.) In summary. Really good phone. Looks great. Great build quality. Lovely screen if a little dim in bright sun light. Stable. Fast. Excellent battery. Poor fingerprint scanner. Very little bloatware. Stock Android 10.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great camera and speaker I bought this phone 2 months ago. Battery is good not a best. Camera is perfect. Only bad thing about this phone is finger print scanner. Finger print scanner is really worst. Not like any other phone. For example when I touch my finger print scanner 10 times 5 times is not working.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good phone with a few minor niggles As per a few other reviewers comments I love Sony stuff in general and have had a good few Walkman and Xperia phones over the years. The Xperia 5 phone is a very good phone that could and should have been great. I have 3 issues with the phone, one major, one middling and one minor. The major issue (I did watch videos and know about it before I had the phone but still decided to go ahead and have it) is the fingerprint sensor!!! Works 3 out of 10 times, even with my fingerprint scanned and saved several times. You spend more time cleaning it to get it to work or just using pattern or pin. It seems that the smallest amount for grease or dirt stops it working. The middling issue is that the screen whilst I love it, isn't quite bright enough in sunny or bright environments. The minor issue is that that my camera, whilst it does take great photos, has crashed on a couple of occasions and I have had to restart the phone to get it to work. Other than that it is a great phone, solid build quality, very clean and uncluttered version of android, very little bloatware, very quick, huge memory, great speakers. But the fingerprint sensor is frustrating.
