New Contract
If you’re looking for a cheap, no-frills smartphone that lets you do all the basics - call, text, browse online and download apps - you’re in the right place. Alcatel offers some of the most affordable and easy-to-use handsets on the market.
Smartphones have become such a huge part of our world, with brands constantly trying to outdo each other with flashier and faster tech. While many of us lust after the latest flagship models from the biggest brands, it can be easy to forget that not everyone needs - or wants - a top-of-the-line handset with all the bells and whistles.
An Alcatel phone is the perfect option if you’re an inexperienced user - or even a technophobe. With less functionality to learn, you can become more comfortable using the handset, more quickly. Or maybe you just no longer want the constant distraction of a phone that is also a portable home cinema and games console? A simple Alcatel mobile phone can help take you back to basics.
And of course, with less tech, comes a much smaller price tag. At a time when most of us are feeling the pinch, not everyone can afford a fancy phone. By choosing a cheap Alcatel phone, you’ll likely be able to reduce your monthly outgoings.
As well as offering a huge range of mobile phones, at Carphone Warehouse we also have loads of phone accessories to choose from, including phone cases, chargers, and headphones.
One of the first things to know about Alcatel smartphones is that they use Android (Go edition) as their operating system. This is a lighter version of Android specially designed for entry-level smartphones. What it means for you, is that it uses less space - so more room for photos and music, etc - and it allows your Alcatel Android phone to run faster. All Android apps should run on Android (Go edition) but you’ll also find ‘lite’ versions of some of your favourite apps which use less memory, storage space and mobile data.
The current Alcatel phone range includes the Alcatel 1 2021 and the Alcatel 1B 2022, with the Alcatel 1 being the more basic of the two. It boasts a 5” LCD screen, and a 5MP rear and 2MP selfie camera set up, compared to the Alcatel 1B with its 5.5” HD+ display, and 8MP rear and 5MP selfie cameras. The 1 has 1GB of RAM and 16GB of memory while the 1B has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of memory. And if you need more space, both have a microSD card slot that can take up to 32GB for the 1 and 128GB for the 1B. The Alcatel 1B even has dual SIM card slots which allows you to switch between two phone lines - perfect of you have a personal number and a business number.
But what if you want to go old school and avoid a smartphone altogether? The Alcatel 10.68 could be just what you’re after. You can use it for the basics - make calls and send texts - as well as listen to music and take quick snaps on the camera. And unlike most of today’s mobile phones, you won’t have any problem fitting the Alcatel 10.68 in your pocket.
SIM-free phones are a great option compared to monthly contracts - you won’t have to pay interest on the phone so they often work out cheaper in the long run. However, to buy a SIM-free phone, you need to pay the full price of the phone upfront, which can be a lot of money and therefore not affordable for some. Fortunately, Alcatel SIM-free phones are some of the cheapest on the market, making them a great choice.
By choosing to buy the Alcatel 1B 2022 or the Alcatel 1 2021 SIM-free, not only will you get a great deal on the handset, but you won’t be tied to a network or plan. This means you can shop around for the best SIM-only or Pay As You Go deal, and potentially cut your monthly bills.
If you’d prefer to have the cost of the phone bundled in with your monthly allowance of minutes, texts and data, we have Alcatel phone deals on pay-monthly contracts. Check out our full range of mobile phone deals for the latest offers.
Alcatel phones are good budget phones. While Alcatel doesn’t rival the big brands when it comes to tech, its no-frills phones are some of the cheapest on the market. They offer good performance and are great for inexperienced users.
