Design and display

Laminated display

The Alcatel A3 has a laminated 5-inch screen, which means that you’ll be able to see everything clearly from every angle. Perfect if you want to share a film with a mate on the train.

Mesh design

The A3’s metallic frame looks really sharp, and will definitely make you stand out in the crown. The device is also super-slim at just 8.6mm, making it really comfortable to hold in just one hand.

Great shots, day or night

On the back of the Alcatel A3, there’s a 13MP camera. It has an accompanying LED flash to make sure you can take great photos at night, as well as during the day.

Selfie time

Up your selfie game with the A3’s 5MP front-facing camera, which also comes with its own flash. And with the pre-installed Face Mask filters, you can have loads of fun doing exactly what it says on the tin – adding virtual masks with just a tap.

Under the hood

Smart fingerprint reader

The A3’s fingerprint sensor is about much more than unlocking your phone with ease. You can marry up five apps to your individual fingerprints, so you can launch the camera, WhatsApp or Snapchat quicker than ever before.

Battery and processor

You’ll be able to stay powered up all day long with the A3’s 2,460mAh battery cell. And you won’t be slowed down when jumping between all your favourite apps, with thanks to the 1.25GHz octa-core processor.

Alcatel A3 is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great budget phone Overall i am pleased with what I paid and what I got. First i struggled to get used to the keyboard but if you switch off the resource optmization keyboard works faster. Sometimes can be sluggish but restart fixes it. Comes with all android settings so has a solid interface and a shocking finger print recognition. There isn't anything majorly wrong with this phone. I wasn't willing to pay more and I got an excellent phone for it. Battery life isn't amazing mind, long as you charge it every night shouldn't be a problem but running very demanding games and apps can drain it quicker.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great budget phone but... Bought mine 10 months ago and to be fair for its price it has been a good phone, that was until a fortnight ago, I put it on charge to hear a popping sound as the battery was swelling and pushing the back casing off the phone, Carphone Warehouse were very understanding and sent it off for analysis, the repair company have since called me and explained it's going to take a very long time to fix and that they would like to offer me a choice of 2 different phones of roughly equal value a Sony Xperia or a Nokia 5.1, or if I wanted my old Alcatel back I could wait on for it fixing but they couldn't give me a timescale for it been fixed so I've opted for the Nokia, as cheap and as good as the phone was I no longer have confidence in the Alcatel brand, I could be just very unlucky that one in a million but bear this in mind when going cheap as I've never had this problem before with any phone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from cheap for a reason My Alcatel does not stick to settings. the totch comes on during a conversation. the sound settings and brightness also have a mind of their own. If you hold he phone and inadvertently squeeze it during conversation, it can disconnect. Mine begins ok and the sound reception quality fades with time. I regret being mugged by TV presentation and by not saving up for a reputable make. Caveat emptor.
