The new Samsung Galaxy S8 - Rumours from the web

The latest news from the biggest tech sites

Tech Radar

“Samsung Galaxy S8 may give everyone what they want: a bigger screen without making the phone dimensions any larger … It's going to come in two sizes, one with a 5.8-inch display and another with a 6.2-inch screen, both with curves and a Quad HD resolution, according to a leak obtained by VentureBeat,” reports James Rogerson.

"a new generation of its virtual-reality headset next month.. designed to work with Samsung's yet-to-be-unveiled flagship phone’ and ‘will feature a new front cover to hold the S8 and come with a single-handed controller."

Android Central

“The GS8's overall design appears to be an evolution of what we've seen from the GS7 … the biggest change being the relocation of the fingerprint scanner from the front to the back panel, allowing for a larger display with minimal bezels.

“The screens size is also significant — the regular Galaxy S8 will, according to [Evan] Blass, pack a 5.8-inch display in an "18.5:9" aspect ratio, so imagine 16:9 except taller.”

CNET, on the other hand, has conflicting ideas about the fingerprint sensor: “…the phone will be all-screen, and a suggestion that the Galaxy S8 could toss out its whole home button -- including the fingerprint reader -- and use an optical sensor that lives beneath the display.”

Digital Trends

Digital Trends’ Julian Chikkattu explores the idea the Samsung may be introducing its own virtual assistant: “It looks like Samsung will develop its own digital assistant for use on the Galaxy S8. Samsung has trademarked the name “Bixby” for “computer application software for smartphones, mobile telephones, portable computers and tablet computers … used to operate voice recognition system[s] … [and enable] hands-free use of a mobile phone through voice recognition.” This hints that the name may end up being used for its assistant.”
