Design & display

High-grade aluminium build

The Moto G5 is built using strong materials giving it a bold metallic look, available in lunar grey and fine gold.

Premium display

A bright 5-inch screen fronts the G5, with Full HD resolution. Here you’ll be able to see, enjoy, and use the latest operating system from Google, Android Nougat.

Sharper pictures

On the back of the smartphone, there’s a 13MP camera, which you can launch quickly by twisting your wrist twice using Moto Actions. The camera’s phase detection technology is also on board to let you focus your photos quicker than ever, making sure you never miss a thing.

Brush up your selfies

There’s also a 5MP front-facing camera, so you can be in the frame, too. And with ‘beautification mode’ you can airbrush away any imperfections so you always look camera-ready.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great phone for the price. I am extremely happy with this mobile. But looking at the people seem to compare to high end devices. Personally my only niggle is no NFC. Which is daft for a phone in 2017. Battery seems OK. IMO I get 2 days out of it. The camera for the budget is good. And the right settings and light can produce good results. The software again is quick and near stock android. And im running Real Racing 3. With no lag and thats a benchmark game. So overall well recommended. If your expecting a Galaxy S7 quality you will be disapointed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Read Specs carefully before purchase. I have had this phone for 3 weeks after having upgraded from a Moto G LTE. I like the feel of the phone and the screen size is better than the Moto G. My prime purpose for upgrading was to get more memory as the 8GB was nearly full and unable to cope with updates. So the 16GB was suitable for me. I also like to store my music collection on the SD card. To cut a long story short, although the music would play initially, if I switched the phone off and back on again, the sd card showed on the phone as corrupted, but would play OK on when plugged into my laptop. Carphone warehouse have changed the phone but problem still exists. I have checked on Motorola forums and many people have reported the problem and it has been around since at least Nov 2016, so Motorola don't appear to be doing much to sort it. I have also found that Motorola have removed the north point sensor, consequently no compass software will run. This may be not a big issue for most persons, but it is for me. Not sure what my next step will be.
