Big screen phone without the bulk

The 5.3-inch Max Vision display means there’s no need to squint to make out what’s on your phone. It’s large enough to enjoy all your favourite movies and TV shows while you’re on the train, since the 18:9 ratio lets you see more of the picture. Read entire articles without having to scroll endlessly, and lose yourself in games on a wider-than-wide landscape view.

Unlock your phone using your fingerprint

Forget about remembering passcodes, now you can use your fingerprint to unlock you phone. Just touch the fingerprint reader to wake up and unlock your phone in an instant.

Great photos, even when it’s getting dark

Take photos you’ll be proud to share with your friends, even when it’s dark and gloomy outside. Low light enhancement gets great results, even indoors. The rear 8MP camera focuses instantly so you can capture all those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments. And don’t forget the 5MP selfie camera – it has its own flash to do your portraits justice.

Enjoy the latest Android Oreo (Go Edition)

Get the best user experience without running out of space, thanks to Android Oreo (Go Edition). There are fewer pre-installed apps on board, just the essentials you know and love, so you can fit more of what you want on your phone. A built-in data saver helps you keep on top of your data use, while Google Play Protect keeps your device safe from anything malicious.

Smooth operator

You’ll love the nippy performance of the Moto E5 Play. The quad-core processor makes everything run like clockwork. You’ll notice just how smooth everything feels when it comes to playing games, and watching movies.

Moto E5 Play is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Great Having had this phone for less than three months, the power button stopped working and no physical problems were evident. Next went the volume buttons. Then the fingerprint scanner. Now the screen regularly flickers white and then goes blank for up to fifteen minutes at a time. The phone also struggles with opening basic apps such as the camera or messages and crashes multiple times before it manages to do anything. None of this helps the (already short) battery life meaning that I have to charge the phone multiple times a day which isn't so great when I need to be out and about for hours at a time. After less than a year the phone's been rendered almost useless. Other Motorola phones I've had have been much better so I'm very disappointed in this one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Phone, Few downsides... This phone is fair and decent. If your looking for a cheap temporary phone then I suggest you buy this one. PROS: It charges real quick and last quite long. I dropped the phone more than 10 times and not much damage, apart from a few tiny dents. If you have a screen saver then your pretty much safe. Fingerprint is good and there are no problems with it. It is waterproof and can handle some water spills. Quite small to fit in pocket. CONS: The phones camera is not too shabby but has a room for improvement. The camera is slow. A few apps have crashed many times which is irritating. The Phone can be slow at times and doesn't work fast.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works some of the time! Had this phone now for 7 months(?) Just wanted a simple phone that lets me make phone calls: Pleased with camera / charging / facilities - but it is SO frustrating! When I turn it on any random app is operating: When I finish a call it re-calls the number 60% of the time! (Embarrassing when I don't know!) What really gets me, if I receive a call, and some random app is on, there is no way I can get to the call. I have to close the app - by which time the call has rung off. Next time I'm in Carphone Warehouse, I will be looking to change it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bad for WiFi and internet Got this phone last year. It's a brilliant one to have but just one problem with it. It's really poor for internet and WiFi always crashes.
