If you have your heart set on one of the best new phones around but don't have the money to pay the full amount up front, a pay-monthly contract could be just what you're looking for. Each month, in one hassle-free payment, you'll pay for the phone plus an allowance of minutes, texts, and data. It couldn't be easier.

At Carphone Warehouse we have a huge range of pay-monthly mobiles to choose from. Whether you're looking for a cheap pay-monthly phone to keep your costs down, or you want one of the latest phones from the biggest brands, there's something for everyone. Compare pay-monthly phones and find the best contract phone for you. Or choose from our pick of the best pay-monthly mobile phone deals.

If you've already bought your dream phone outright or are happy with the one you have, why not check out our monthly SIM deals? With a SIM-only plan, you just pay monthly for the set amount of minutes, texts, and data you've chosen.

Pay-monthly phone deals

The best bit about pay-monthly deals - compared with SIM-free or Pay As You Go - is that you can get one of the newest phones on the market without having to pay the full price of the phone straightaway. And you'll be spoilt for choice, we offer all the best handsets including the latest Samsung, Apple iPhone and Google Pixel deals.

If you love talking, texting, and going online, our best pay-monthly phone deals offer bigger and better bundles of calls, texts, and data than a Pay As You Go contract. So, you don't have to remember to top up - you'll always be connected.

Lots of our pay-monthly phones also come with free gifts and treats, especially for newly released handsets. Check out the latest mobile deals with gifts today and find the best mobile contract deals for you!

Pay-monthly phones with no up-front cost

While it's true that you often have to pay a fee when you sign up for a contract phone, there are still plenty of pay-monthly options with no up-front cost.

Generally, the more expensive the phone, the more likely it is to have an up-front cost attached to it. And because the newest phones tend to be the most expensive, that's why you have to pay up-front for most newly released contract phones.

You can still get a pay-monthly phone with no up-front cost from the biggest brands, just check out the slightly older models for cheap mobile contracts.

Pay-monthly iPhones

If you're the sort of person who likes to get their hands on the latest and greatest phones on the market, check out the brand new Apple iPhone 16 series.

Still best sellers, the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro, as well as the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, are a bit more affordable now they're not the new kids on the block. These slightly older models are still firm favourites and are great if you're on a tighter budget.

Pay-monthly phones FAQs

What do I need to get a phone contract?

We ask for a credit check, so you have to be 18 years or older. If you're younger, an adult can take out a contract for you - the credit check and bills will be in their name.

If you're buying online or over the phone, your credit or debit card can be used as proof of identity. If you're buying in-store, a valid Chip and PIN credit or debit card can be used - you'll need to know the PIN for your card. The billing address for your card and your pay monthly contract must be the same.

Can I get a phone contract with bad credit?

Our mobile phone providers use a credit check to decide whether to offer you a contract. If your application is declined, we'll do our best to find a different product that suits your needs. Don't try to buy another contract online - taking lots of checks can harm your credit rating.

Do I need to be from the UK to sign up to a monthly contract?

You don't need to be a British citizen, but you do need to have lived in the UK for at least three years.

Is there a 14-day cooling off period?

Cooling-off periods let you cancel for free, and are usually only found on contracts taken out online or over the phone, as opposed to in-store - so it's worth checking before you buy.

Can I transfer a phone contract to someone else?

It depends on which network you're on. Most let you do this, but some tie the contract to the person they run the credit check for.

Can I use my contract SIM in another phone?

It depends on your network, so always check with them before you do anything with your phone. If they say you can't to sell the phone, we recommend you keep it for the duration of your contract.

If you're allowed to sell your phone, remember that you're still responsible for paying off your contract each month. If you stop payments, the network could blacklist the device, which could leave you open to legal action from the buyer.

What happens if my phone breaks on contract?

If there's something wrong with your phone, you can visit any one of our stores and we'll let you know if you are eligible for a return, exchange or repair.

How can I check when my phone contract ends?

Check any paperwork you were given when you joined the network, or give them a call. If you use your network's app, there might be an option to view your contract details.

What happens when my phone contract ends?

Don't worry - your phone won't just switch off. You'll carry on with your network on the same tariff until you upgrade or cancel the contract.

And there's no better place to upgrade than Carphone Warehouse. We compare the widest range of pay-monthly phone deals to make sure you get the best one for you.

Do I need a 4G phone?

2G and 3G mobile signals will begin to be phased out within the next year. Specific timing will depend on your mobile operator. But to keep you futureproof, we recommend you choose a mobile phone with 4G or 5G connection.

How do i get my cashback?

Place your order and you will receive your cashback by cheque within 28 days of your contract starting. You do not need to do anything, we will send your cheque automatically. It is Currys Retail Ltd who solely undertake to offer the above Cashback via cheque to qualifying end customers. Any queries in relation to such Cashback Offers shall be directed to us and not the network provider
