If you, like us, have been left wondering how you can help those affected by the terrible events in Manchester earlier this week, then please join this weekend’s Daily Mail appeal in association with Carphone Warehouse.
Nearly a third of all UK households have at least one unwanted mobile phone gathering dust in a cupboard or drawer. Together they could raise millions of pounds. Let’s put that money to good use.
We’re asking our customers and their readers to donate these phones at your local Carphone Warehouse store. We’ll donate the entirety of your phone’s trade in value to charity. The majority of the money raised will go to the “We Love Manchester” Emergency Fund to support those who have been injured or bereaved, with a portion pledged to inter-faith charities to help the community.
It’s a simple, easy way to make a difference. So have a hunt around, and bring your phones to your local Carphone Warehouse store.
Thank you.
More about the charities:
Manchester City Council launched the We Love Manchester emergency fund this week in partnership with the British Red Cross to help the injured and bereaved.
The fund is designed to make sure the bereaved and injured don’t suffer short-term financial hardship in the immediate aftermath, and longer-term support where needed for the bereaved and those with life-changing injuries.
In addition to its support for the We Love Manchester fund, the campaign will also send a portion of the money raised to support inter-faith groups in the community.
They include the Inter Faith Youth Trust, a nationwide charity registered with the Charity Commission, which provides small grant funding to local voluntary organisations to support children’s projects which promote learning and understanding between different faiths and beliefs.
You can show your support by trading in old phones at any Carphone Warehouse store across the UK – find your nearest one here.
To make the experience as quick as possible, we suggest that all personal data is backed up to either your PC or Cloud and all data cleared from the device through the in-built memory.
On arrival in-store, please let a colleague know that you would like to donate a phone to Mobiles for Manchester and we will process it on your behalf. You do not need to provide any payment information.
Alternatively, if you would like to make a cash donation, you can do this in two ways:
- By cheque, please make it payable to ‘Mobiles for Manchester’ and post it to:
