Design and display
Seeing the big picture
The 6-inch display dominates the face of the smartphone, leaving just two slim bezels at the top and bottom. The OLED screen is 18:9 ratio, instead of the more conventional 16:9 ratio, giving you a larger picture, without a larger smartphone. At Quad HD resolution, everything looks pin-sharp, and the HDR10 inclusion tunes up all the colours too.
Camera
More light for better shots
The dual lens rear camera has a super-wide aperture of f/1.6. This means that LG’s Crystal Clear lens can open really wide to suck in loads of light, for brighter more true-to-life colours.
When using the camera’s Cine Video mode, you can take advantage of one of LG’s most exciting new features, called Point Zoom. As well as the impressive optical image stabilisation (OIS), you can smoothly pan into any point on the screen by giving it a quick tap. This adds a professional-looking element to your videos, and gives you more creative control.
Hi-Fi audio video recording
With thanks to the B&O Play integration, you can record superior sound in your videos. You only record the bits you want – so, if you’re at a gig, and you want to dampen the audience noise, just set the directional receiver to the act and come home with a balanced and accurate recording.
Under the hood
Bags of power
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor is running the show, backed up by 4GB RAM. You’ll never be slowed down when using your favourite apps, and with all that power, you’re all set up to use Google’s Daydream View VR headset. Simply download the app from the Google Play Store, and then slot the V30 into the headset for immersive virtual reality experiences.
Giant battery
The 3,300mAh battery cell will comfortably see you through the whole day. And you’ll be able to power up 50% in just 36 minutes using the latest in charging technology, USB Type-C. Alternatively, you go wirelessly by placing the phone on top of a charging mat, and forget about leads and cables all together.
LG V30 FAQS
The LG V30 comes with an IP68 dust and water-resistance rating, which essentially means that your phone is protected against dust and can be submerged in up to 1 metre of water, for up to 30 minutes without mishap. So if you’re heading out in the rain or drop it in a puddle, there’s no need to worry, simply wipe it down and it’ll be good to go.
The LG V30 has something called Hybrid Dual SIM. This is where there are 2 SIM slots, one that’s used for the Nano SIM and another that can be used for a memory card or a second SIM. Giving you the flexibility to choose to have extra memory or another number on board.
Yes, fortunately for audiophiles who are fond of the 3.5mm audio jack LG has seen fit to keep the headphone port so people can easily connect standard headphones to their smartphone and while away the hours listening to their favourite tracks.
Yes, the V30 is well equipped in this department. It comes with a USB-C charging port and has the ability to be charged wirelessly. Simply place the LG V30 flat on a wireless charging dock and the power will flow through the back panel to get it recharged.
The LG V30 comes with 64GB internal storage as well as the option to add additional space via an external MicroSD card. Just remember if you’re using the MicroSD slot for a second SIM, you’ll only be able to use the 64GB internal memory.
Although the LG V30 missed out on Android Oreo at launch, the Android 8.0 update has already begun being rolled out to LG devices across the globe and should hit your device early 2018.
