Design and display

Super-slim design

At just 7.2mm thin, the Mate S provides a really comfortable and premium mobile experience. The polished finish will mean you won’t want to put it down.

Top quality display

Fronting the Huawei Mate S is a brilliant 5.5-inch Full HD display, which extends to the very edges of phone, creating a borderless viewing experience.

Bring out the professional

The 13MP camera has a load of professional settings pre-installed, giving your photos that extra something. Control shutter speed, exposure and light saturation for that perfect shot.

Welcome the selfies

Most smartphones fall down when it comes to the front-facing lens, but the Mate S’ 8MP shooter certainly isn’t one. With pre-positioned soft light, you selfies will look awesome.

Under the hood

All day. All night

With an impressive 2,700mAh battery on board, the Mate S isn’t likely to leave you short on charge when you’re out and about.

Under the hood

A powerful octa-core processor drives the Mate S, helping to deal with multitasking and using large apps. If you want to watch movies and tweet about them at the same time, you’ll not run into any problems.

Multipurpose fingerprint sensor

Round the back of the handset is a fingerprint sensor, just underneath the camera lens. Although its primary function is to add a level of security to your smartphone, it can also be used for scrolling through web pages and snapping photos.

Knuckle 2.0

For the first time you can use your knuckles to crop and edit photographs on the Mate S, by simply drawing on the display. You can also draw out a letter to skip to an app – like ‘C’ for the amazing 13MP camera, for example.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and prompt response At first i was wary of getting this phone as Huawei is not a brand you hear of, but i read previous reviews and after having Sony and Samsung (would never own iphone) i thought a change of manufacture is in need. Since using the phone i am glad i decided to give it a try, i am happy with the phone and it is very responsive when you press an app. There are bad reviews regarding the battery (this is the only review against the phone i could find) but i am using the phone alot during the day making phone calls and searching the internet and from 7am when the phone is taken off charge to around 11pm the battery life drops to about 23% so it isn't as bad as reviews make out. The phone is easy to use and runs the android system, although the phone has a large screen the phone isn't as big as you would expect and is comfortable to hold. If your debating on this phone but unsure on Huawei, i would say give it a try i was surprised by the technology that has gone into this phone and the sharp display is pretty impressive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good. So far I'm happy with it. Not really convinced with the option to write letters on screen to open apps. But in a general conclusion, I like the phone.
