Design and display

Smart and stylish

PRIV is perfectly designed for a balance of practicality and productivity. The physical keyboard makes accurate typing easy, while the slide mechanism ensures the phone still fits in your pocket. And it’s all put together while keeping PRIV slim and good-looking.

See the detail

Whether you want to see every detail of your favourite movie or have the space to edit documents on the move, the 5.4-inch screen on PRIV is brilliant. Colours are vibrant and blacks are deep, making everything look perfectly realistic.

Ahead of the curve

That huge, crisp screen has a gentle curve on each side. This creates a space for handy shortcuts – just slide out from the right-hand curve and you’ll get icons for your calendar, to-do list, contacts and more so you can do things more quickly.

Professional rear camera

It’s not just the huge 18MP sensor that makes the camera on PRIV great, it also has professional lenses. These let in more light and give sharper focus, making your photos look like they were taken with a proper camera.

Better home movies

The camera on the back of PRIV isn’t just great for stills, it shoots great video too. You can record in 4K Ultra HD (that’s four times sharper than Full HD) and there’s optical image stabilisation to keep things looking smooth.

Advanced video calls

BBM Video takes the front camera on PRIV to the next level. You can set up video conferences, share you screen for collaborative working and hear everything in sharp detail thanks to BlackBerry’s advanced software.

Under the hood

Power and efficiency

An innovative six-core processor gives PRIV impressive performance. There are two high-powered cores for when you want to run your most powerful apps and games, and four low-powered cores to keep things running in the background without draining the battery.

Plug in less often

BlackBerry has squeezed a huge battery into PRIV. That means you can keep going for longer without plugging into the wall. So, if your working day turns into a night out, you’ll be able to stay connected until you get home.

Other features

BlackBerry meets Android

PRIV is BlackBerry’s first Android phone, meaning you get all Android’s flexibility and apps plus BlackBerry’s best productivity features and supreme security.

A more powerful keyboard

BlackBerry is famous for its keyboards, and the one on PRIV is fantastic. It doesn’t just make typing easy –slide your fingers over it and it works like a track-pad so you get a cursor for easier navigation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kazgti from Blackberry still makes a good phone Read reviews and watched some videos then took the plunge. Not used a BlackBerry since a Bold a long time ago. First off, mine feels solid, no creaks or wobbles when keyboard is out so appears well made. Nowhere as thick as I imagined it would be. The power button on left side easily reached with thumb, in my opinion better placed than at the top. Physical keyboard is a little tricky but I'm using it now and it's easy to get back to the two thumb typing. Got MM update and with the BlackBerry extras it's great. Paired easily with pebble watch. I know everyone wants the latest iPhone or Samsung but I wanted something a little different, the mix of android with BlackBerry inputs and a physical slide keyboard puts this out there on its own. Well done blackberry and CW for stocking this. Can't comment too much as yet as only been playing with the phone for 5 hrs setting up, updating software etc but right now battery is at 64% and I'm happy with that, normal use should easily see me through a 12hr shift with juice to spare. No problems connecting to home 5g WiFi and staying connected, also receiving a good 4g network signal. Call quality crystal clear. Browser loads pages quickly and the screen with its gentle curve at the edge is gorgeous. A red, yellow then green line travels along the side when charging, I think it's a cool feature. Shame they didn't adopt android earlier, if they survive I'm sure they will increase their market share with products like this. No hesitation in recommending to anyone who doesn't feel the need to follow the herds. Ps CW, below under your 'best for' productivity has an 'r' in it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JF1111111 from At £399 sim free, its a steal Had this phone since July (Sim free) which is the best way to buy this phone - it guarantees you get BlackBerry's (and Google's) monthly phone updates without network interference. Battery is huge BlackBerry's android software is far better than any other manufacturer out there at the moment, especially hub and the BlackBerry launcher with pop up widgets (no more widgets cluttering homescreens). Keyboard is ok but I did come from a Passport which was keyboard perfection - BB on-screen keyboard is better than anything else out there. Dual curve screen is excellent, Camera is very good too. This may not apply to most, but if you use BB Enterprise Server or Good Technology EMM suites with Android for work, you really won't be disappointed. Highly recommend this to personal & work users - great phone and at least its more interesting to look at than most android and ios slabs of rectangular misery!
