Effective monthly cost

The Effective monthly cost helps you to compare the total amount you'll pay for different deals, including those with an upfront cost, cashback, or bill credits, helping you find the best value deal.

The Effective monthly cost is NOT the amount that will be taken from your bank account by direct debit every month (this is the “Monthly cost”).

Included in the Effective monthly cost figure is:

  • The total line rental cost over the life of the contract (Monthly cost multiplied by the length of the contract in months)
  • Any upfront handset cost (if applicable)
  • Any cashback promotions or bill credits that will be received through the duration of the contract (if applicable)

For example. A contract has an upfront handset cost of £50. The contract is 24 months long, and is £25 per month. This means the total line rental is 24 months x £25, which is £600. If there was £100 cashback, this would be taken into account too, by subtracting it from the total line rental cost. £600-£100 = £500. Add in the handset cost £50+£500 =£550 to give the total contract cost of £550. To get the Effective monthly cost, divide this by the contract length: £550/24 months, to give £22.92.

With a large 2,100mAh battery the S3 gives you 11.6 hours of talk time and a long 770 hours of standby time. Running Android Jelly Bean 4.1, it can be upgraded to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The processor is a mighty 1.4GHz quad core, plenty for almost anything. At 4.8” the screen is large, perfect for movies and web browsing, kicking out a resolution of 720p HD, with 306 pixels per inch (PPI). The 8MP camera on the back and 1.9MP on the front are excellent. For storage there’s 16GB of built-in memory, with a microSD card slot for cards up to 64GB (cards sold separately).

Pop-up play: On screen multitasking.

Doing things simultaneously on the Galaxy S3’s 4.8” HD Super AMOLED screen is easy. With Pop-up play and the powerful Exynos 1.4 GHz quad core processor, you can watch an HD video in another window while sending an email or checking sports scores simultaneously. Resize the video, drag it to where you want on the screen, and chat with your friends or surf the web with the video still in view.

Smart stay eye recognition.

You’re reading an article, and the screen dims and turns off before you’re done. Not anymore. With the innovative Smart stay feature, Galaxy S3 uses its 1.9MP front facing camera to automatically recognise when you’re looking at it, keeping the screen bright until you’re finished and look away.

8MP camera with advanced features.

The 8MP camera has advanced lenses giving it ultra realistic colour detection, and it’ll take a photograph from sleep mode in 990ms – less than a second. The Burst Shot mode takes 20 shots in quick succession, with 3.3 photos per second, excellent for sports and gigs. There’s also automatic face recognition. Your S3 will actually recognise your friends in photographs and let you tag them in one go, or even send to them all with one screen press.

Direct call and Smart alert for extra practicality.

Direct call uses proximity sensors and motion recognition to identify when you bring the phone to your ear. It’ll then automatically ring the contact whose details you have on screen or are currently texting. Smart alert is a feature that knows when you return to your phone after, say, a making a coffee when you left your S3 on the sofa. Pick it up and it gives you a brief vibrating nudge to inform you about missed calls and new messages. How thoughtful is that?

  • If something's not working, give us a call on 0870 111 6565^. We will tell you whether you are eligible for a return, exchange or repair.
  • If you have no reception on your new network, you can return your device within 14 days of the date we first tried to deliver it to you
  • Online purchases can also be returned to your nearest store

What do I need to return/cancel my order

  • All the accessories and other content that came with the product.
  • Proof of purchase.
  • Any free gifts that came with the product.
