Huawei Ascend Y300

For anyone looking for their first smartphone, the Huawei Ascend Y300 is stylish and easy to use with impressive specs. The camera is perfect for capturing those spontaneous moments and you'll also get access to hundreds of thousands of apps to keep you entertained.

The essential tech specs.

With a 1730mAh battery, the Huawei Ascend P6 can stay charged for up to 320 hours on standby or 5 hours of phone calls. It's powered by a 1GHz dual core Snapdragon processor and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and has a decent 4" display. The screen resolution is 480x800, which means you get a good pixel density of 233 pixels per inch. There's also a nice 5MP camera that can take 480p video and everything can be stored to the 4GB of inbuilt memory or to a microSD card up to 32GB.

Beautiful 4" screen

Beautiful 4" screen.

One of the most important parts of modern smartphones is the screen, and the Y300 has a great one. At 4" it's a great size - it's small enough for portability and ease of use, but still large enough to comfortably catch up with your friends' photographs on Facebook. It's a good size for one handed use, your thumb can reach every part of the screen for fast typing, and it'll slot into any pocket or bag. The screen is also good and sharp, giving you lifelike picture quality so everything you look at will look awesome.

Cameras front and back.

The 5MP camera on the back of the Huawei Ascend Y300 is perfect for quick snapshots whether you're out with friends, visiting family, or out on a day trip. And if it's a little dark, just turn on the built in flash. You can also record video at a super smooth 30 frames per second. There's also a front facing camera, ideal for 'selfies' or even the Android Face Unlock feature for extra security.

Fast enough for games and the power you need for Catch up TV.

Fast enough for games and the power you need for Catch up TV.

Inside the Huawei Ascend Y300 is a 1GHz dual core processor. In short, this means your smartphone has a powerful bit of tech that makes it fast enough to play basic games (the Ascend Y300 comes with 4 Trial games from EAGames to get you in the swing). But equally importantly, it has the power and the screen for Catch Up TV services like BBC iPlayer - turning your Y300 into an instant Pocket WiFi TV. We recommend you add a memory card to make the most of these services.
