Using Audio Zoom on the LG G2

Posted on 8 October 2013

What is Audio Zoom?

Audio Zoom lets you zoom in on a particular audio source while recording video, helping to minimise other noise so you can focus on the subject you want.

What is it for?

When you're recording on your LG G2 and there's one subject you're really interested in but lots of other noise, such as when you're recording your kid's school play, you can zoom in on the area you want to hear using two fingers. It's ideal for amplifying the noise of objects and people in loud environments too.

How does Audio Zoom work?

To get it working you need to go into the camera app and switch to video recording using the toggle at the bottom of the screen. Then hit the settings cog at the top and set Audio Zoom to on. Now when you're recording a video and you're holding the phone landscape – the three microphones only line up for Audio Zoom when the phone's held that way – you can pinch the screen to zoom in and out. This zooms both the picture and the audio.
