T-Mobile tops mobile broadband performance poll

T-Mobile has been ranked number one in the UK for mobile broadband performance in independent tests for the second successive quarter.

Tests performed by leading test house P3 Solutions for the fourth quarter of 2008 measured customer experiences during peak broadband usage periods in 16 UK cities. The tests examined a network's capability to cope during peak times, visit popular websites, stream video clips, download music files and send and receive emails.

T-Mobile's mobile broadband experience tested as the best browsing experience with browsing speeds almost 35 per cent faster than its nearest competitor Upload speeds were considered impressive too: emails could be sent five times faster through T-Mobile's network than its rivals, while incoming emails were received twice as fast.

Emin Gurdenli, Chief Technology Officer, T-Mobile UK, commented: "To be ranked No1 for two consecutive quarters since testing began in April last year is a significant achievement. "Our consistently high performance is testament to the fact that we continually test and improve our network to make sure our customers are getting the best possible mobile broadband experience."

Mr Gurdenli also promised that it would expand on the potential of its mobile broadband network, through new tariffs and laptop bundles. Since independent testing began in Q2 2008, T-Mobile has seen as 12 per cent improvement in web browsing reliability and download speeds have risen by more than 40 per cent.

T-Mobile's strong mobile broadband performance is sure to score the network points with customers who increasing access social networking sites - like Facebook and YouTube - on the go, as videos and photos can be streamed and uploaded with greater convenience.

Other networks tested by the independent report include O2, Orange and 3.
