The Sony Ericsson Filippa, previously known as the Kate, may now be undergoing yet another name change - this time to the less personal C901.

The anticipated cyber shot phone has made headlines frequently over previous months, each time with frustratingly little information regarding anything about the device other than it was the next in the Swedish-Japanese company's camera phone range. However, pictures have been released that detail the handset in three colours - Nobile Black, Precious Peach and Sincere Silver - and it appears that, according to tech blog engadget, the device will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress next month.

Toting a 5 megapixel camera with xenon flash, autofocus and smile detector, the Sony Ericsson C901 will be primarily marketed as a camera phone - something the manufacturer excels at over rivals such as Nokia and Motorola thanks to its input from Japanese giant Sony. The new line may also help Sony Ericsson combat dropping sales - something many mobile manufacturers are currently experiencing.

Motorola recently announced that it would be drastically cutting its produce lines and dedicating its strength to more target-focussed models in order to fight dropping revenue streams - and even Finnish giant Nokia has reported a disappointing Q4 result for the end of last year.

Not all companies are so strongly affected by the economic downturn, however - Apple's innovative iPhone remains as powerful as ever, selling units constantly as customers rush to obtain one of the world's most popular phones.
