South Korean mobile manufacturer Samsung took the spotlight at the Consumer Electronics Show last week with a brand new device packing a big difference.

The Samsung Show is not only a well-designed mobile phone packing all the usual features you'd expect from the popular manufacturer, but it's a projector as well. Users can employ the device to watch movies and television programmes on the big screen thanks to technology in the handset that allows the images to be projected onto a wall or blank surface.

Offering five options for the projector, the Samsung Show lets users watch films and programmes on the big screen, view slideshows of photographs and even picks up digital television waves. So far, the South Korean firm has shown examples of animated Korean programmes aimed at entertaining kids.

The device can also show normal television and light up for use as a torch when the show is over and the lights go out. Despite having a cool gimmick to help sell models, Samsung hasn't skimped on the extras for the Show. The handset comes equipped with Samsung's TouchWIZ UI, meaning that the large screen is a full touchscreen - putting the phone alongside current trends from popular devices such as the Apple iPhone.

It also features moveable widgets, so users can organise the look of their phone into what suits them the most. The Samsung Show is set to launch in Korea by the end of January. It has not yet been revealed when a UK release date will occur, nor has a price been announced.
