After selling one million units in other parts of the world, Nokia's first touchscreen mobile phone has come to the UK. Over 100 Nokia enthusiasts waited for the chance to get their hands on the device on Saturday, at the manufacturer's flagship store in London. Launched in October last year, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic sold out in just hours in Russia and China and the Finnish firm is hoping to see a similar response in the UK. The phone - considered Nokia's latest challenge to the much-loved Apple iPhone - totes a 3.2 inch widescreen display that will provide the base for users to engage with various multimedia - like photo viewing, video playback and internet browsing. The 8GB of memory stores somewhere in the region of 6,000 music tracks and supports most audio formats. The 3.5mm headphone jack also ensures compatibility with most types of headphones. A 3.2 megapixel camera will allow users to take photos and record videos which can then be uploaded to social networking sites and YouTube at the touch of a button. | ![]() |
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone's touch interface comes with simple access for the handset's main features - like single touch internet access and the ability to highlight four main contacts for easy access to their texts, emails and calls. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone will be available free from many networks on a contract. The price for the device without a SIM card will be in the region of £230-250. |
