Rumours are flying that successful mobile manufacturer Apple has another iPhone up its sleeve - the iPhone Nano. In much the same vein as its treatment of its market-dominating Apple iPod, it could be the case that Apple hopes a smaller iPhone will see another swarm of users picking up the new device - and chances are it will be less expensive than its bulkier counterpart. When Apple first released the iPod Nano, it saw an explosion in popularity as the more affordable price made the device accessible to a wider cross-section of the market and made it appear as a viable gift option. Although the rumours that yet another contender in Apple's range of smartphones is set to defeat the likes of Nokia, Samsung and the BlackBerry have been floating around for several months, this is the first time that it looks like they could soon be substantiated. Apple has refused to confirm or deny the development of such a handset - but, according to news site Mobile Whack, several manufacturers have revealed that they are working on building cases for an iPhone Nano already. The iPhone 3G has become one of the most popular smartphones in existence, selling a million units over the weekend it was released. I t rivals other branded handsets, such as Finnish firm Nokia's N-series and Canadian company Research in Motion's well-respected business phone, the BlackBerry. Apple has gone from strength to strength since the release of its inaugural mobile phone last year and looks to only continue its success in the coming year. |
