HTC One X, S and V Comparison Review - Which one is right for you?

HTC One Family
Which one is right

Not one to rest on its laurels, HTC has been hard at work over the winter and come up with the One Family of smartphones – the One X, One S and One V. So, which 'One' is the 'one' for you?
What they share.
No matter which smartphone you go for, all have three standout features – the HTC ImageSense™ technology for a great camera experience and professional-standard photos, Beats Audio™ for an enhanced audio experience, and great, original looks that are still durable and practical.

ImageSense ™ camera tech.

The list of features built into the camera on all three is mighty impressive. Here’s the low down:
HTC Image Chip – a dedicated image processor built into the phones. Normally these are found on high-end digital cameras. This is what powers the One Family camera features. Because the processor is designed purely for processing your media it generates very impressive photos and effects.

Quick Focus – an automatic feature that focuses the camera in around a second, meaning you can take your photos much faster.

Capture photos from HD video – just tap the screen to snap high quality photos while shooting HD video. You can even capture the photo when watching the video later.

Continuous Shooting – this lets you capture up to 99 pictures in rapid succession. There’s a well thought out new interface to review the ones you want to keep, too.
Automatic Burst Mode – the camera will sense and lock-on to moving objects and snap 5 pictures automatically.

Super wide lens – an f2.0 lens is the widest currently available on a smartphone. It allows more light to enter the lens resulting in less blur and great low-light performance.

Auto-adjusting flash – the flash senses how far away the subject is and auto-adjusts to one of eight settings for natural looking lighting.

Auto-tracking - tap on a moving subject and auto-tracking will lock-on to keep it in focus.

High speed video capture and slow motion playback – that’s right, you can record a video in high speed and then play it back in super slow-mo to wow your buddies.
HTC One
Beats Audio™.

The sound technology inside the One Family that boosts your audio. It doesn’t just work on your media player either, it works throughout the system, so YouTube™, apps and your movies will all be enhanced.

But what makes Beats™ special?

It gives you accurate sound. This means the audio you hear is much closer to the tune artists and producers spend hours in the studio working for. Looking at it simply, if you compare a pair of Beats Audio™ headphones to a standard set, they have a tighter sound with enhanced bass and treble - it's a much improved overall experience. They also fit well, and they're some of the coolest looking headphones out there. In the words of Dr Dre himself, 'With Beats, people are going to hear what the artists hear, and listen to the music the way they should: the way I do.'

HTC One X
The HTC One X is the ultimate smartphone – big, powerful, it delivers a full, in your face experience. If you want the fastest and most over the top smartphone, this is it.

What it's best for.
Games and high intensity processing.
The 1.5GHz quad core processor is the power source of this beast. You'll be able to play any mobile game easily, and it'll give you the best graphics possible. Intense multitasking, power hungry apps, content rich websites – if you're impatient and want these activities to run flawlessly, the One X is the phone you'll need.

Video playback and picture viewing.
With the largest screen in the family at 4.7", the One X is the choice for videos and pictures. It's massive, sure, but also it's a 720p high definition display, so everything is in cracking detail.

HTC One S
This is the style icon of the family. Designed to look as slick as possible, it's the best looking family member, and the thinnest of the bunch.

What it's best for.
Those that like style.
Made from a single block of metal, it incorporates a unibody design that gives a distinctive look; it's a mighty pretty smartphone. Not only is it rock solid, HTC actually fire a laser at it during production – check out the video! This gives it a special finish that's grippy, metallic, and makes it three times stronger than stainless steel.

Those that can't decide.
Too big or too small? The One S isn't as large as the One X, but has a larger 4.3" screen than the One V. This means you'll get portability combined with a large screen for gaming, videos and photos.

HTC One V.
The One's main strength is it's the most practical, the all-rounder. It'll do everything you need, without breaking your bank.

What it's best for.
Portability and practicality.
We know you love large screens, but they do have their disadvantages. The One V still has a 3.7" screen – iPhone 4S territory – which is just fine for your media, and it makes the whole phone much easier to carry about as it's the smallest and lightest.

Those strapped for cash who want some top tech.
The One V isn't a cheap and cheerful mobile; it's a high class smartphone. But it does give you the option of a brilliant camera, built-in Beats Audio™ and swish metallic aluminium unibody for less money than its family members. And if you're in love with SD cards, the One V could be your best friend.
