Great gadgets from CES 2014 day three

Posted on 10 January 2014

During CES, 3,500 manufacturers descend on Las Vegas to show off their new products. Here are our favourites from day three.

3D Systems and its ChefJet printer

3D Systems and its ChefJet printer

You may have heard of 3D printers. They typically print intricate plastic models. 3D Systems, though, decided that sugar and chocolate was better than plastic and created the ChefJet. In its prototype form it takes about an hour to print a complex sweet of practically any design. Two colours and flavours can go in. Wedding cakes will never look the same again.

PrivacQ Q-case for the Samsung Galaxy S4

3D Systems and its ChefJet printer

If you’ve looked enviously at a friend using their fingerprint to unlock their iPhone 5s, don’t worry. PrivacQ has created a case that gives you the feature on your Galaxy S4. Thanks to the case and special app, you can encrypt emails and messages, make your live chats private and more.

PawsCam

PawsCam

We saw a lot of wearable technology, and PawsCam was just that. Only it wasn’t for humans, it was for dogs. The small camera dangles from the dog collar. It then sends information over the internet to your smartphone. You can find out whether your pet is wandering around or sleeping and even stream footage from the camera itself to get a dog’s eye view of what’s going on.

C-Mirror

C-Mirror

Look carefully at the photo and you’ll see the man on stage isn’t wearing a coat…but his reflection is. C-Mirror is a way to try clothes on to see if the style suits you without having to actually put them on. Or even leave your house. It’s possible to move around anyway you want too to make it more lifelike.

Aim

Skulpt made a cool device called Aim. It scans your body to tell you what sort of physical shape you’re in. You’ll get fat measurements, muscle measurements, body fat and muscle percentages. What’s really interesting though is that it’ll also tell you the quality of your muscle too, so you know how your training regime is working for you.
