Eligibility

Orders will be sent to the address at which you were credit checked. Any required payment for the device must be paid upfront at the point of order. iPhone is restricted to use on the O2 network. Attempting to use it on any other network, for example by replacing the SIM card, may mean it becomes permanently unusable. One per customer. Subject to availability and network coverage. Connection subject to status minimum of 18 years of age, credit check required. Requires a valid credit or debit card with chip and pin. The price of the device is dependant on the tariff chosen. Activation of the device requires the latest version of iTunes, a broadband connection and a minimum level of PC or Mac software.

New to O2

Switching to O2 is easy and you can keep your existing number

Switching to iPhone is easy and we have a wide range of tariff options for iPhone available to suit all your needs. If you've already finished or nearing the end of your minimum term contract with another network provider, now is the right time to get the new 3G iPhone.

To purchase an iPhone with a Pay Monthly tariff you need to be over 18, pass a credit check and have a bank account for the monthly Direct Debit payments. You'll also need an email address you access regularly because your bills will be sent to you by email.

Keep your number

You can easily transfer your existing number to your new iPhone. Just contact your current network provider for a PAC code. Then let us know your PAC code when you purchase your iPhone in-store, or contact us online once you've received your new handset.

Your existing number will be transferred within two working days of us receiving the PAC code. We'll also give you a temporary number whilst you wait for your existing number to transfer so you can continue to make calls, send texts and surf the internet.

Activation

Once you've got your new iPhone 3G, you'll need to connect to the latest version of iTunes to activate it.

Before activating

1. Check your voicemail - If you're an existing O2 customer, activation will delete any existing messages. If you're transferring an existing number from another network operator, your existing messages will not be transferred
2. Insert your SIM card into the SIM tray at the top of your iPhone. You can open the SIM tray by pushing the SIM ejector tool (or a paper clip!) into the hole on the SIM tray
• If you’ve got a Pay and go iPhone you’ll need to use the SIM card that comes with it to access your 12-months free internet browsing.



3. Download the latest version of iTunes to your PC. To do this click the iTunes link and select Download > Save > Save. Wait for iTunes to finish downloading and click Run
4. Follow the on screen instructions to install iTunes (you must accept the iTunes terms and conditions agreement before you can install it
5. Connect your iPhone to a USB port 2.0 port on your computer using the cable included in your iPhone box
   • Make sure you connect your iPhone to a USB port on your computer and not on your keyboard.

6. iTunes will open automatically. Follow the instructions on screen to activate your iPhone and sync it with iTunes

Transferring contacts and calendars

There are two ways of moving all the stored numbers and calendars from your old phone on to your iPhone without needing to enter them manually.

Via your computer's address book:

1. Transfer the contacts and calendars from your old phone to the address you use on your computer - Address Book or Entourage on a Mac, or Microsoft Outlook Contacts or Outlook Express on a PC
2. Link your iPhone to your computer and wait for iTunes to open
3. Click on the Info tab at the top of the screen and select the address book you want to copy your contacts and calendars from
4. Click Apply > Sync and iTunes will automatically update your iPhone

Via your old SIM card:

1. If your contacts were saved on to your old phone's SIM card you can copy them to your iPhone using your old SIM card
2. Insert your old phone's SIM card into your iPhone and turn it on
3. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Import SIM Contacts

Requirements

You'll need an internet connection for activating your iPhone, and iTunes. Your computer needs at least these specs to run iTunes:

If you've got a Mac:

• Mac computer with USB 2.0 port
• Mac OS X v10.4.10 or later
• iTunes v8.2 or later

If you've got a Windows PC:

• PC with USB 2.0 port
• Windows Vista or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later
• iTunes v8.2 or later

FAQs

To buy an iPhone you must:

• have a Chip & PIN credit or debit card (we cannot accept payment by cash in stores)
• be at least 18 years old
• have an email address - all iPhone billing is done online
• sign an 18-month contract with O2 on one of their iPhone price
• choose a contract (from £29.38 per month)
• pass an O2 credit check
• set up a direct debit for monthly payments
• not have already purchased a 3G iPhone

If you currently get your bill from The Carphone Warehouse

• If you're still in contract with us, you'll have to pay a disconnection fee equal to your remaining months' line rental.
• Because all iPhone accounts are managed by O2, you'll receive your bill from O2 in the future. All iPhone billing is done online so you must have an email address ready when you sign up.
• Keeping your existing mobile number is hassle free - we'll transfer it over within two days of activating your iPhone. In the meantime you'll get a temporary number.
• You can upgrade online, in any Carphone Warehouse store, or by calling 0870 087 0870 (calls cost 6p/min from BT landline, call costs from mobiles and other networks vary).

If you get your bill from O2

• If you're still in contract, you cannot upgrade to the new iPhone.
• If you're out of contract, you can upgrade online, in any Carphone Warehouse store, or by calling 0870 087 0870 (calls cost 6p/min from BT landline, call costs from mobiles and other networks vary). Your existing mobile number will be automatically transferred to your new iPhone.
• All iPhone billing is done online so you must have an email address ready when you sign up.

I don’t currently get my bills from O2 or Carphone Warehouse. How can I get an iPhone?

• All iPhone accounts are managed by O2, so you’ll have to sign up to one of O2’s iPhone tariffs to get the iPhone. All iPhone billing is done online so you must have an email address ready when you sign up.
• If you want to keep your existing number, you’ll need to get a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC) from you current network provider. Contact your network to get one – if you’re still in contract you may need to pay a cancellation fee first.
• Order your iPhone online , visit any Carphone Warehouse store, or call 0870 087 0870 (calls cost 6p/min from BT landline, call costs from mobiles and other networks vary).
• We’ll give you a temporary number to use while we transfer your number to your iPhone. Your new number will be transferred within two days of O2 receiving your PAC.

Can I keep my existing mobile number?

Yes.

• If you're an O2 Pay monthly customer, your number will be automatically transferred when we activate your iPhone.
• If you're an O2 Pay as you go customer, just tell us you want to keep your number and we'll take it from there.
• If you're with another provider, or have a Pay as you go mobile number, contact your network for a PAC (port authorisation code). Give us the PAC and we'll give you a temporary mobile number to use while O2 connects your existing number. They'll usually do this within two days of receiving your PAC.

Do I need a computer?

You don't need to own a computer yourself but you must have regular access to one.

• Before you can use all of your iPhone's features, you need to sync it with iTunes over the internet.
• iPhone billing is done online so you'll need an email account you can check every month.
• The easiest way to upload music, videos and other content to your iPhone is via iTunes.

The computer must have:

• a MAC running OS X 10.4.10 or higher
  or
• a PC running Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista
  and
• a USB 2.0 port
• the latest version of iTunes (you can download it for free at www.apple.com/uk/itunes)
• internet access (broadband is recommended for quality and speed)

Windows XP Professional x64 edition or any 64-bit edition of Windows Vista

iTunes and the iPhone is not supported by Windows XP Professional x64 edition or any 64-bit edition of Windows Vista.

Our returns policy for the iPhone

If you change your mind…

Change of mind returns are not available to:

• existing O2 customers who upgraded to the iPhone, or
• customers who received their bill from Carphone Warehouse and upgraded to the iPhone

Otherwise, you can return your iPhone within 14 days from the day you receive it.

• You must bring your iPhone into one of our stores, along with all accessories and manuals, and a valid till receipt or other proof of purchase.

We cannot offer a return:

• outside of this time, or
• if your iPhone does not work properly with your computer or internet connection. Please check your computer and internet connection will work with the iPhone before buying.

If your iPhone develops a manufacturer's fault…

• If your iPhone develops a fault within 28 days of buying it, bring it in to any Carphone Warehouse store for an exchange or return.
• If 28 days or more have passed, your iPhone will need to be sent for repair. We recommend you call the Apple Care team on 0870 876 0753 (calls cost 6p/min from BT landline, call costs from mobiles and other networks vary) or book a repair on the Apple website. They'll send you a prepaid bag so you can post your iPhone to the repairs team. You can also bring your iPhone into any Carphone Warehouse store to book a repair. However, if you choose to book a repair this way it will likely take longer to get your repaired iPhone or a replacement one.

Can I transfer my existing Lifeline insurance policy to my new iPhone?

If you've upgraded from the 2G iPhone to the iPhone 3GS, you can. Unfortunately, other customers cannot transfer their policy.
