Project Ara design gets detailed by Google

April 16, 2014

Project Ara is Google’s plan for a modular phone, one that you could build yourself like Lego. And we’ve just found out what plans the search giant has for its looks.

You’ll be able to order new parts, like cameras and batteries, online and choose the colours of each of them. You could even upload a photo and have that printed on the back of your Ara phone.

The strangest part of Project Ara’s design would be the different textures you could add to it. You could ask for 3D textures to be printed to give your phone the feel you want.

Google Project Ara gets its own developer's conference

Feb 27, 2014

Google has big plans for the mobile world, and not just with Android. Project Ara is Google’s attempt to make a modular smartphone, meaning you’d be able to clip bits to it and remove other bits like Lego.

The new concept would mean everyone can have a phone that’s perfect for their needs, and easily change it if their needs change.

To help speed up development, Google is hosting a developer’s conference in April that’ll give people all the information they need to start building different parts that’ll work with Project Ara.
