Open the BlackBerry Desktop Software and connect your BlackBerry handset to your computer using the USB cable.
From the left-hand column, click on Files followed by the Get Started button.
You can now see the files and folders stored on your BlackBerry's memory card. Right-click on the Music folder (or Pictures, or Videos) and choose Copy.
Open your Start menu and click on Computer.
Take a look down the left-hand column for the Music folder (found underneath Libraries or This PC).
Right-click on the Music folder (or pictures, or videos) and choose Paste.
Repeat the process to copy your other media folders across to your PC, ready to transfer to your new handset.
Back up media on BlackBerry 10
Open your BlackBerry Link software and connect your BlackBerry using the USB cable.
From the left-hand column, click on Music to view the music currently taking up space on your smartphone.
To make sure that all your music is backed up, right-click on All music, hover the mouse cursor over Copy To and then click on Computer.
Repeat the process for pictures, videos and documents by clicking on the appropriate link in the left-hand column and right-clicking on All pictures, All videos or All documents.
To view your saved media, open your Start menu and click on Computer.
Examine the left-hand column for folders called Documents, Music, Pictures and Videos. Your media will be copied to each of these folders, so open them up and find the BlackBerry folder to find your music or other media.
